Welcome to APEXFILES. By accessing or using our website (https://apexfiles.pages.dev) and our suite of file management, PDF, and image processing tools, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
1. Description of Service
APEXFILES is a web-based application offering tools to view, merge, convert, compress, sign, and apply OCR to PDFs and images. All processing is conducted entirely within your web browser (client-side), meaning we do not upload your files to any remote server for processing.
2. Detailed Feature Descriptions
APEXFILES offers 14 distinct features, all processed securely in your browser. Below is a detailed description of what they provide, how they work, and how to use them:
1. Compress PDF & Images
What it provides: Reduces the file size of PDF documents and images (JPG, PNG) without significantly losing quality.
How it works: It uses local browser canvas rendering and PDF-lib to downscale images and compress streams inside the PDF.
How to use: Upload your file, select a compression level (Low, Medium, High), and click compress. Download the optimized file directly.
2. Merge & Demerge PDF
What it provides: Combine multiple PDFs into a single file, or extract specific pages to create a new PDF.
How it works: Uses PDF-lib to manipulate the PDF byte streams locally. You can drag and drop to reorder pages.
How to use: Upload multiple PDFs to merge them into one, or upload one PDF and select the pages you want to keep or remove.
3. PDF to Image
What it provides: Converts pages of a PDF document into high-quality image formats (JPG, PNG).
How it works: Renders the PDF pages using PDF.js onto a hidden HTML canvas and exports the canvas data as image files.
How to use: Upload a PDF, choose your desired image format and quality, and download the converted pages as a ZIP file or individual images.
4. Image to PDF
What it provides: Compiles one or more images into a standard PDF document.
How it works: Reads the image files and embeds them into a new PDF document using PDF-lib.
How to use: Upload your images, drag to reorder them, select page orientation (portrait/landscape) and margins, then generate the PDF.
5. Edit & Sign Document
What it provides: Allows you to draw or place digital signatures onto a PDF document.
How it works: Creates an interactive overlay using Fabric.js where you can draw your signature, which is then flattened into the PDF.
How to use: Upload a document, use the signature tool to draw or type your signature, drag it into place, and export the signed document.
6. Edit PDF
What it provides: Add text, shapes, redactions, and highlights to an existing PDF.
How it works: Displays the PDF in a viewer and lets you place vector elements over it. The elements are embedded as PDF annotations or flattened content.
How to use: Open a PDF, use the toolbar to select text or shapes, place them on the page, and save the edited PDF.
7. HTML to PDF
What it provides: Converts raw HTML code or rich text into a formatted PDF document.
How it works: Renders the HTML inside a hidden iframe and uses html2pdf or native print-to-PDF functions to capture the layout.
How to use: Paste your HTML code or type into the rich text editor, preview the layout, and click generate to download the PDF.
8. PDF Workspace
What it provides: A comprehensive environment for viewing, navigating, and managing PDF files.
How it works: Uses a full-featured PDF.js viewer implementation for smooth scrolling, zooming, and thumbnail generation.
How to use: Open any PDF to read it, use the sidebar to jump to specific pages, or use the integrated tools to quickly launch other APEXFILES features.
9. Lock & Unlock PDF
What it provides: Encrypts a PDF with a password or removes password protection from an unlocked PDF.
How it works: Utilizes PDF-lib's encryption algorithms to rewrite the PDF with standard AES encryption or decrypt it if the password is known.
How to use: To lock, upload a PDF and enter a strong password. To unlock, upload an encrypted PDF, provide the correct password, and save the decrypted version.
10. OCR PDF
What it provides: Extracts selectable and searchable text from scanned PDFs or images.
How it works: Runs Tesseract.js (an Optical Character Recognition engine) entirely in your browser via WebAssembly to analyze pixels and recognize text.
How to use: Upload a scanned document, wait for the local processing to complete, and copy the extracted text or download it as a text file.
11. Image Workspace
What it provides: A fully-featured photo editor for cropping, resizing, filtering, and drawing on images.
How it works: Uses HTML5 Canvas and Fabric.js to apply pixel manipulations, overlays, and vector graphics in real-time.
How to use: Upload an image, select tools from the sidebar (like crop, blur, or meme text), make your edits, and export the result.
12. Background Remover
What it provides: Automatically detects the main subject of an image and removes the background.
How it works: Employs a lightweight, browser-based AI model to segment the image locally without uploading it.
How to use: Upload an image featuring a clear subject. The tool will process it locally and provide a transparent PNG for download.
13. Convert Images
What it provides: Converts images between various formats including JPG, PNG, WEBP, and GIF.
How it works: Loads the image into memory and uses the browser's native canvas to encode it into the target format.
How to use: Upload an image, select your desired output format from the dropdown, and download the converted file.
14. My Vault
What it provides: A centralized local dashboard where you can access, preview, download, or share files you have explicitly saved using APEXFILES.
How it works: It securely stores saved files directly within your browser's IndexedDB. Files never leave your device. The oldest files are automatically purged only if the overall vault size exceeds 500 MB.
How to use: Open the "My Vault" page to view your saved files, rename them, share them directly to other devices via WebRTC, or delete them manually.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use APEXFILES to process files that are illegal, infringe on the intellectual property rights of others, or contain malicious software. While we do not monitor the content of the files you process (since all processing happens locally on your device), you are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to process and use the files you select.
